                | | A district within an urban area. Although the term was coined to describe an area comprising a community of individuals it is frequently applied in general usage for any small residential district irrespective of the degree of social integration there. A neighbourhood sensu stricto is a defined area within which there is an identifiable subculture to which the majority of its residents conform (cf. neighbourhood effect). (RJJ)
