Political activity by a neighbourhood\'s residents involved in resisting proposed changes to their locality. Such activity is usually very local in scale and involves responses to changes in either the built environment (e.g. a new road through a suburb — see NIMBY) or an area\'s socio-economic characteristics (cf. invasion and succession). (RJJ)
