A transformation of a variable to meet the constraints of the general linear model approach to statistical analysis. Logit transformations are usually performed on binary data (i.e. the variable can only take the values of 0.0 and +1.0), to avoid estimating equations which might produce \'nonsense\' estimates of their values outside that range. (RJJ)
